Keeping It Casual

This is a casual look I wore a few days back for heading to classes, running some errands, and enjoying some downtime with Tilda. For a while now, I've been on the hunt for the perfect pair of destroyed black skinny jeans (I'm blaming you, Harry Styles), and recently, I ran up on these from Free People, which I LOVE. They are super black, which was a definite must on my checklist, and the fit is absolutely incredible. To say I'm obsessed with these jeans at the moment is quite the understatement (no joke, I'm wearing them as I type). 

A Look Inside My Room

In addition to styling, I'm also very intrigued by interior design. My interior tastes are very similar to my personal style, in that I gravitate toward heavily accessorized, ornate, and colorful decor. Anyway, here's a look inside my room at home. Mom and I have always had the best time over the years gradually transforming it into what it is today. Any excuse to spend ridiculous amounts of time in antique stores is alright by us.

A seemingly obvious, yet undeniably true tip I've learned over the years, is that when in doubt or in a styling block (because they, in fact, do happen), blacks, whites, and grays are concrete go-to's. Something about the very basic color palette draws attention while looking effortlessly yet completely pulled together. 

Texture

I get most excited about winter clothes, mainly because of faux fur coats, you know? This may be a bold statement, but they might possibly be my absolute favorite part of my wardrobe. They are just so good and add such texture to any look, and mixing texture is one of my favorite ways to amp up an outfit. I paired the fringe kimono with the faux fur coat because of said texture fetish, but also because the soft green with the dark red was a nice way to throw in some complementary colors (apparently, I'm actually learning something in school?). Because the upper half of this look was a bit heavy, I kept the lower half streamlined with a solid black line down to the boots. To finish it off, I threw a hat on, because it matches my hair, and somehow I think that's neat, and why not? And that's it, there you have it.
