Midnight Blue

(Dress: Truly Zac Posen / Shawl: Vintage / Necklace: Vintage)

Here's another look I styled for the Teen Vogue April 2014 prom issue. For this look, I kept the styling simple and just let the dress speak for itself, because it certainly knows how. The silhouette and deep blue fabric of this dress are both so luxurious and beautiful. I added a bronze velvet shawl, an amber ring and necklace, and an opal bracelet. And of course, a touch of red lipstick.

Seventies Vibes

Since running up on this amazing vintage leopard cape, I have been dying to style it. Obviously, the cape is through and through Seventies, so I just went with those vibes for the rest of the look. The high-waisted, wide-leg linen pants were another piece I have been saving for the perfect opportunity to wear. The cape and the wide-leg pants just seemed to me like the perfect match. For some extra detail, I added a green satin scarf, a beige felt hat, and brown boots. To top off the Seventies look, large, round sunglasses were a must. I mean, why not embody Mick Jagger, or at least one of his many glamorous ladies? In the words of my good (and super stylish) friend, Whitney, "If you don't look like you fit in with the band when you get dressed in the morning, then are you even really dressed?" I couldn't have said it better myself.

Concrete

I'm totally channeling Mary-Kate Olsen on this look. Using a scarf as a wrap shawl is something that she has perfected for years now, and it's definitely become one of my go-to layering tactics this fall. Speaking of layering, another look I'm really into right now is styling a dress over pants. I love the delicate chiffon over the tough leather. The mixture of multiple textures is my favorite part of this look.
