Out & About in New York - Day One

Despite tackling a very early morning spent traveling, finally being back in New York felt incredible. There is something truly magical about feeling the wheels of the plane touch down, grabbing your suitcase at baggage claim, and then catching a bright yellow cab bound for Manhattan. Just being in New York makes me feel as though my wildest dreams are within reach, just waiting for me to latch onto them and chase them to the end. There is no denying that New York has completely stolen my heart, with no intention of giving it back.

We spent our first day settling into the New York groove and walking around West Village, our neighborhood for the week. I've previously spent some time in West Village, but after this trip, it has become one of my most beloved places on Earth. The rows of Brownstones along the narrow, tree canopied streets fill the neighborhood with so much character and charm. The mere act of walking down our picturesque stoop every morning and onto the city sidewalk was a bit of a surreal experience due to my countless daydreams of that simple task one day becoming a constant reality. I felt like a true New Yorker.

After having a great brunch at Cafe Angelique and stopping in our fair share of vintage shops, Mom and I made our way to Bar Pitti for dinner, where I had some of the best Italian food of my life. Apparently, it's the place to be, because we ended up eating a table over from Donna Karan, which was pretty awesome. Overall, it was such a good day, and the perfect way to kickstart such an incredible week.
