The Perfect Shirt Dress

(Shop the dress (which is on SALE!) on Rebecca Taylor)

I just ordered the perfect white shirt dress from Rebecca Taylor. I can dream up about a bazillion ways that this piece will come in handy -- layered under a dress, over black skinny jeans, just by itself. The possibilities are endless. Plus, it's a great transitional piece from season to season. If you are as in love as I am, get it while you still can, because it's on sale, and I imagine an awesome piece like this doesn't hang around on the shelf for long.

Neon

(Shirt: Anthropologie - Similar: here or here / Skirt: Target / Boots: Thrifted - Similar: here / Watch: Fossil / Glasses: Firmoo)

The neon trend has never been one that I have completely jumped on, primarily because I feared looking like a walking highlighter. However, I believe this skirt has been my graceful ease into the trend. The grey background allows the colors to remain grounded, while still giving them free reign to pop. I believe it's important to tone down bright colors with neutral pieces so there aren't too many competing factors in an outfit. So I paired the skirt with a beige kimono sleeve t-shirt and tan ankle boots. Also complementing this outfit quite nicely are my new round frames from Firmoo. The tortoise of the glasses is dark and bold, two things I always look for in a pair of specs.

Kimono Love

It's no secret that kimonos are one of my favorite pieces of clothing, mainly because they allow my favorite styling technique, layering. Though, I wear them year round, they are especially helpful during the summer because they are so lightweight. Here are some of my favorites at the moment.

Coffee Break

This sequin kimono has been a tricky piece in my wardrobe for sometime now. I instantly fell in love with it in the store, but when I brought it home and reality of how I was going to wear it hit (on a daily basis, that is), I was a bit stumped. Because I refuse to believe pieces should be specific to day or night, I decided to pair it with some (or a lot, rather) denim. The tried and true material really brought the glittery sequins down a notch, allowing the piece to be appropriate for casually sitting on the back porch and drinking a cup of coffee even while the sun was still ever present. I also really loved the pastel mix of the faded blue with the fleshy pink. Additionally, I paired the look with my great new pair of sunglasses from zeroUV and my new rings and bracelet from Infinitine. Hopefully, if you've been in a sequins rut, but desperately want to break free, as I did, this will give you a helping hand.

20

I guess they really aren't kidding when they say time flies, huh? It's absolutely crazy to think that I turned twenty years old today. It hasn't totally sunk in yet. I have to say, though, I'm very excited about this next year. I already know it's going to be filled with lots of exciting adventures and new experiences.

Anyway, on to the outfit... Head-to-toe comfort just about sums this one up. These chambray pants are seriously about as cozy as pajama pants minus the self-shaming induced by stepping foot in public wearing pajama pants. There are always loopholes. Secondly, this white t-shirt takes the cake. About a year ago, I realized my closet was lacking in some effortless basics, a great white t-shirt being one of those. So the hunt began. I searched and searched and searched (who knew that would be such a difficult task?) and finally found this one. Let me just say Anthropologie knows what's up when it comes to comfort and cut. I paired the look with a bright red blazer to add a bit of boldness and structure, while still allowing comfort the upper hand. I topped it off with a black felt hat and some black studded ankle boots to give the outfit a last touch of edginess, as well as to allow for some grounding to the otherwise lighter colors. And there you have it.

Connect the Dots

(Dress: Brandy Melville - Similar: here / T-Shirt: Brandy Melville - Similar: here / Blazer: Forever 21 / Heels: H&M - Similar: here / Sunnies: zeroUV)

There is absolutely no question that I am a legitimate sunglasses hoarder. No, seriously, I have a problem. So when zeroUV contacted me to collaborate, I was over the moon excited. I really love the black, thick frames and gradient lenses of these sunnies. They definitely put the final touch and brought some edge to this all black (well, aside from the shoes) look. Check them out for an awesome selection of really cool shades.
