Christmas 2014

This year's Christmas was so nice. Since I've moved off to college in the past year, this was the first time I have actually had to come home for Christmas, which made it that much more appreciated and special. It's such a privilege to be surrounded by all the people you love during the most incredible time of the year.

Christmas Day

Every Christmas, the main item on my list is more clothes. I know it may sound a bit overkill, but the thing is, I truly love clothes. My love for clothes is the root of my intrigue with styling. Taking different pieces and mixing and remixing them together to create different looks is such a passion of mine. This outfit is compiled of pieces I was lucky enough to receive for Christmas. The rust and blush tones in the coat, combined with the incredibly soft texture make it one of my new favorite pieces. To allow the color of the coat to take center stage, I paired it with a color palette of black and white for the dress and kimono.

Dream Boots

(Boots: Zara)

"As far as I'm concerned, leopard is a neutral." These wise words of the one and only Jenna Lyons ring ever true. Leopard is such a staple print in my wardrobe. The mix of brown and black allows endless styling possibilities by forever breaking the age old rule that black and brown should never be mixed (which, in my book, should be declared forever void). So, with that being said, when I ran across these bad boys, there was no hesitation; I had to have them. The hunt for very '60s, go-go style ankle boots is what I live for. However, they are not as easily found as one might assume. Usually, I only find this style after endless hours searching through vintage/thrift/consignment stores, which is quite the challenge. Luckily, Zara has stolen my heart by creating exactly what I've been looking for. So, here you have it, the perfect mix of my favorite print and my favorite style. Or, in other words, my dream boots.

For this look, I tried to spruce up a mainly navy (and possibly boring) outfit with some mixed prints and accessories. I'm very much in to hats right now. Not to say that I have ever not been into hats, but I'm especially fond of them right now. This pale pink wide brim is one of my favorites. I love how the soft color of the hat brings emphasis to the floral print on the pants.
