One thing's for sure, denim was my fabric of the season for my summer in New York. There's just so many denim options out there these days, with a vast selection of cuts, shapes, and dyes, that you aren't primarily confined to your standard blue jeans anymore (though, trust me, I love those, too). I love taking the tried and true fabric and mixing it up a bit. Since denim has a relaxed and rugged identity, I contrasted it with a long, white kimono-style jacket and a vintage lucite and wicker handbag to add a bit of femininity. To take the variance a little further, I added a touch of menswear with my new Billy Reid (!!!!!) monk strap shoes.
